The Ethnographic Film Committee and the CNRS Images with the support of the Centre for Mongolian and Siberian Studies will organise a new edition of « Regards Comparés » dedicated this year to the Mongolian area.
Through different documents (archives, documentaries, research documents and feature films) we’ll propose a reflexion on this region with a special focus on shamanism, nomadism and on the recent period called « post-socialist transition » characterised by cultural revival and economical and social crisis.
The screenings, organised by themes, will be followed by debates and discussions with anthropologists and filmmakers. The proposed documents will present different approaches and point of views from American, Belgian, Danish, Finland, French, German, Italian, Mongolian, Russian directors…
On Saturday 22nd October a Round Table on « The Revival of Mongolian Shamanism » will be led by Marc Henri Piault, Président du Comité du Film Ethnographique, Roberte Hamayon, Directeur d’Étude à l’EPHE – Laetitia Merli, Anthropologue et cinéaste (Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology, Manchester), Charles Stépanoff, Doctorant EPHE et cinéaste.
